These days we hear a lot about utilization of stem cells for different therapeutic purposes like organ transplantation, curing of blood cancer and many more. These cells have different order of potency and so are they named totipotent, pleuripotent, multipotent and unipotent. Some of them can generate a single organ like the heart, liver, lungs etc., some of them like the embryonic stem cell can even generate a whole individual. These cells which are not very easy to isolate can be collected and cultured and utilized for future applications. We hear a lot about stem cell banks where stem cells can be preserved for future use.
